Seven Hills Preparatory Academy (SHPA) is a free, public charter school that does not require admission tests, no specific academic requirements for applying, and no tuition. Admission is open to all students who reside in Minnesota. SHPA accepts enrollment applications in all grades, however, not all grades may have openings. If applying to our elementary school grade levels, you can apply at both campuses. Please scroll down to “How to Apply,” to start the process.

Continue to enroll from waiting lists for the current school year if there is space available; through the end of September and then at our Trimesters (December and March)

Open enrollment for the next school year closes on January 15; any interest applications taken between November 1 and January 15 will be a part of the February lottery for the forthcoming school year.
Any interest applications after January 15 will be accepted but will not be a part of the lottery and will be placed on the waiting list in the order it was received.

If the intent to return forms, records requests, or withdrawal forms identify confirmed open spots at any grade level, the forthcoming year’s wait list(s) will be utilized to fill open spots.
If offers go out for grades one through eight, additional appointments will be opened to receive new SHPA student enrollment packets.

Important Enrollment Reminders for 2026 – 2027:
KINDERGARTEN AGE REQUIREMENT: All 2026 – 2027 Kindergarten applicants must be Five (5) years old, on or before September 1, 2026 in order to qualify for Kindergarten, no exceptions. SHPA does not conduct screening for students younger than the date listed above.
APPLYING THROUGH SCHOOLMINT: Start the SHPA enrollment process by creating one SchoolMint account for your family; you can add multiple children under the one account. Applying through SchoolMint is the first step in our enrollment process and does not guarantee a spot at SHPA at any grade level.
DOUBLE CHECK: Please carefully check the school campus and school year for which you are applying. We continue to take current school year interest applications (25 -26) in tandem with our 2026 – 2027 school year. SHPA is not responsible for errors on applications in SchoolMint.
JANUARY 15, 2026/11:59PM: Any applications received AFTER January 15, 2026 will be NOT be a part of the lottery. Post open enrollment applications will be accepted and placed at the bottom of the established waiting list in the order in which it was received.
2026 – 2027 SHPA SCHOOLMINT WAIT LISTS: The 2026 – 2027 SHPA grade level wait lists are established by the running of the lottery and by those applications received AFTER January 15, 2026. It is important to note that your student’s “Application Status,” will remain in “Submitted,” status until the lottery results are released at the end of February 2026. The 2026 – 2027 SHPA wait lists are only good for one enrollment cycle: February 2026 – June 2027.
GRADES 1 THROUGH 8 WAIT LISTS: Please note that our grade level wait lists beyond Kindergarten are not utilized until late spring/early summer if/when we have confirmed grade-level vacancies.

Steps to Submitting a SHPA Interest Application:
1. At the SchoolMint Login page (See Link Below):
If you have an existing SchoolMint account with SHPA, you can use that Username and Password to log in and apply for your new student.
If this is your first time using SchoolMint, click on “Sign Up,” at the bottom of our SchoolMint login page and follow the instructions below.
2. Create your Family Profile
First, input Parent/Guardian information. PRO TIP: Be sure to select Email and Text for your Contact Preference.
Second, input Student Information. This is where you will input all students that you will be applying for the 26-27 school year
3. When all students for application are in, you’ll be directed to your Student Dashboard. Once there, click on, “Add New Student Application.” This will walk you through applying for the school year, grade, and campus(es).
PRO TIP: For elementary school families applying for grades K – 5 for 26-27, if you are interested in applying to both campuses, you can apply for both campuses at the page that says, “Your School Options are Below.” Simply click on both if you want to apply to both. These will show up as two different applications on your student’s dashboard.
4. When you’ve completed your interest application(s), you will receive an automatic email from SchoolMint confirming you’ve applied.
PRO TIP: If you do not see the automatic email in your main email box, be sure you check your Junk Mail box for the confirmation email.
5. Please keep your Username and Password for SchoolMint. You can log in to SchoolMint at any time to check on your student’s application status.
PRO TIP: Your student’s application status will remain in “Submitted,” status through the end of February 2026. When we release the results of the lottery, your Student Dashboard will update with the results and you’ll receive an email and text with that information.
6. As long as you apply between November 1, 2025 and January 15, 2026, your interest applications will be a part of our mid-February 2026 lottery.
Please remember that submitting an interest application through SchoolMint is the first step in our enrollment process and does not guarantee a spot at SHPA at any grade level.
