Seven Hills Preparatory Academy (SHPA) is a free, public charter school that does not require admission tests, no specific academic requirements for applying, and no tuition. Admission is open to all students who reside in Minnesota. SHPA accepts enrollment applications in all grades, however, not all grades may have openings. If applying to our elementary school grade levels, you can apply at both campuses. Please scroll down to “How to Apply,” to start the process.

How To Apply

We are excited that you are considering our wonderful school community for your student’s educational journey! We continue to take interest applications for both school years for all grade levels. We encourage you to review steps one and two prior to submitting an interest application at step 3.

    Thank you for considering Seven Hills for your student(s) educational journey! We have begun taking interest applications through SchoolMint for the 26-27 school year.

  • Complete your family and student(s) info in your application

    1.  Create your Family Profile

    • Include all students in your family that are applying

    • PRO TIP:  Elementary student may apply to both campuses, at “Your School Options are Below.” 

      These will show up as two different applications on your student’s dashboard.

    2. When you’ve completed your application, you will receive an automatic confirmation email from SchoolMint.

    • PRO TIP:  If you do not see the automatic email in your main email box, be sure you check your Junk Mail.

  • Apply through SCHOOMINT

    2026 – 2027 Applications:

    • Open spots we be filled as available

    • DOUBLE CHECK: Please carefully check the school campus and school year for which you are applying.

    2027 – 2028 Applications:

    • Open Enrollment Period (Nov 1 - Jan 15)

    • Lottery in February + Offers Made + Wait Lists Developed

    • Keep your Username and Password for SchoolMint.  You can log in to SchoolMint at any time to check on your student’s application status.

      • PRO TIP:  Application status will remain in “Submitted” status until the lottery, your Student Dashboard will update with the results and you’ll receive an email and text with that information.

SHPA Enrollment Timeline: Get to know our year-round enrollment process. Click in to the month and learn more about becoming a Roman Eagle!

    • School year starts!

    • Continue to enroll from waiting lists for the current school year if there is space available; through the end of September and then at our Trimesters (December and March)

    • Review current school year enrollment levels: 

      o  If we are full, enrollment will stop.

      o  If we have space available, we will continue to enroll from waitlist(s) until we reach appropriate enrollment levels.

    • In person school day tours offered at both campuses.

    • Open Enrollment begins on November 1 for forthcoming school year through SchoolMint.

    • Continue to take current year interest applications

    • Elementary Schools host Open Houses

    • Continue to take current year applications and review enrollment for any openings for a Trimester 2 start.

    • Open Enrollment continues for next school year interest applications for Open Enrollment

    • Continue to take current year applications for Trimester starts for any open spots.

    • Open enrollment for the next school year closes on January 15; any interest applications taken between November 1 and January 15 will be a part of the February lottery for the forthcoming school year.

    • Any interest applications after January 15 will be accepted but will not be a part of the lottery and will be placed on the waiting list in the order it was received.

    • In person school day tours offered

    • Lottery-eligible interest applications reviewed

    • Continue to take interest application for current school year and forthcoming school year.

    • Lottery hosted mid-February

    • Results reviewed and released by the end of February

    • Only Rising Kindergarten families receive offers at this time

    • Grades One through Eight will be automatically wait listed and then used once open spot are confirmed – typically late spring/early summer

    • Rising Kindergarten applications appointments begin (March).

      • Completing this enrollment appointment verifies your student(s) for the upcoming school year.

    • Continue to use forthcoming year’s Kindergarten waiting lists as families decline or do not respond in time.

    • Receive interest applications for current school year (March only) and forthcoming school year.

    • Review current school year enrollment for any openings and start at the beginning of Trimester 3.

    • Intent to return form sent to currently enrolled SHPA families

    • Continue to take interest applications for next school year.

    • If the intent to return forms, records requests, or withdrawal forms identify confirmed open spots at any grade level, the forthcoming year’s wait list(s) will be utilized to fill open spots.     

    • If offers go out for grades one through eight, additional appointments will be opened to receive new SHPA student enrollment packets.
